Mortal Kombat Advance : Introduction
| With many companies revisiting their old game archives to rerelease many of them on Nintendo's new handheld system, the Game Boy Advance, it was obvious it wouldn't take long for Mortal Kombat to show up.
In the Fall of 2001, Midway announced that a Game Boy Advance version of Mortal Kombat would be on store shelves in the winter. It was soon revealed that this game, titled Mortal Kombat Advance, would be a hybrid of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
When it was released in December 2001, fans everywhere cringed at the somewhat watered-down graphics and unresponsive gameplay. As well, nothing new was included in this port. It was a shame that the developers didn't take advantage of the GBA's raw power and just rushed the game to store shelves to make an extra buck in time for the holiday season. There was nothing advanced about this title at all. |
